5 easy things to consider when planning your photography shoot

Let’s face it, it might be nerve wrecking just to think about all the details for a glamour photography shoot for a non-model. You have to think about everything ranging from our outfit, to your makeup and even selecting the right photographer and in top of that, you start thinking about how the heck you will be able to naturally pose in front of the camera.

We know that all this can be overwhelming and this is why we have created this quick guide so you don’t forget any important and basic details.

Start simple and keep it simple, here is checklist that you can use to get you started on your planning:

  • Research for ideas, maybe on pinterest or instragram, these are two good places to start tagging some inspiration images that you can later discuss with your photographer

  • Select your photographer. Use your inspiration images to compare to the portfolios of the photographers on your area. It is important that you know the photographer will be able to deliver the type of images you are after

  • Select your location.  Now that you have your photographer, discuss together which location is convenient to produce your photos. Many times, the photographer will already know good places.

  • Select your wardrobe. Discuss this part with your photographer. It is important that you are well communicated. Include accessories, and other details on your wardrobe selection, this is an important part of the plan.

  • Define the logistics. Will you need makeup and hair artist? Will you need additional accessories or props? How long will your shoot be? Most photographers have their logistics very well narrowed down and they help you prepare, just make sure you have contemplated these details and they are stated in your contract (yes, there should ALWAYS be a contract, make sure you know it well).

Although these are simple topics to you can use them as a roadmap if you don’t know where to start to plan for your photoshoot. We know there are still many other important things that have been left out of this article and in order to cover them we will be talking about each one of these points in more detail.
